Saturday morning I took a fabulous class with Nancy Krueger at Stamp Fever, my local stamp shop. This was a great opportunity to get my mitts on some of the new Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. Some of them seem to have followed me home. Hmmm, wonder how that happened?
This card is based on one we made in the class. I made two versions so I could play around with a few color combinations.
- Stamps: Blue Skies (Lawn Fawn)
- Ink: Marina Mist (SU)
- Paper: Neenah Solar White, Pink Lemonade Patterned Paper (Lawn Fawn), Bashful Blue cardstock (SU)
- Accessories: Copics, Blue Skies Lawn Cuts (Lawn Fawn), Stickles, Corner Chomper
The paper piecing gives the balloons a great 3D effect which really adds to the card. I built the paper pieced version on top of a cutout of the balloons, then popped them up on foam adhesive to add more texture and depth.
I’m still fairly new to the world of photopolymer (clear) stamps, but this is one of the main reasons I’m totally hooked on them – you can bend the stamps! Here I took my sentiment and curved it around the edge of the balloon. I think it just adds an extra little pop to the scene. Rounding the corners keeps the curvy theme going throughout the card.
I’m not sure which version I like more – paper pieced or copic colored.
