It seems that I’ve hit that age where every time I turn around someone has just had a baby. I use baby cards just as quick as I can make them! I always try to make fun and/or silly baby cards, especially since no one really thinks I’ll send a sincere card. Who? Me? Not be sarcastic? No way!
Supply List –
- Stamps: I’m Here from A Muse Studio
- Paper: Cocoa, Onyx, Ocean and Sugar from A Muse Studio
- Ink: Ocean and Memento Black from A Muse Studio
- Accessories: Copic Marker for the bear ears, X-acto knife and quilting ruler for the windows
I’m not sure what it is about this little bear that caught my attention, but as soon as I saw it I knew I needed to make a cheerful, happy card. The window panel was cut from Onxy cardstock. I then attached a bit of Sugar cardstock behind the “windows”, and adhered the whole thing to the piece of Ocean. I then used foam squares to pop that off the Sugar background.
The bears were stamped with Memento Black directly on Cocoa cardstock. I then used a pink copic marker to color their ears – it did a great job coloring over the brown cardstock! The bears were fussy cut out while I watched some tv one evening. I don’t know about you, but my fussy cutting is never perfect. I hide that by taking a black marker and going around the cut edge – it covers up any white imperfections. (I did the same thing around the inside of the windows on the onyx panel.)
Once the panel was complete I slipped the bears into place. It took some playing around before I was happy with each one. They are adhered with glue dots on their hands and torsos, then I used a foam square behind each one’s head. That gave them just enough dimension to look like they were popping through the windows without making the card too thick to mail.
I might just like this one too much to give away!
